Rudy Lopez brings over two decades of experience in governance, community engagement, and strategic planning.
With a strong background in public service, he previously served as a Governing Board Member and Board President for the San Ysidro School District, where he played a key role in shaping policy, improving student services, and supporting the successful passage of multiple bond measures. His professional experience also includes civil service in the cities of National City and San Diego as well as continuing his family’s legacy of entrepreneurship.
In addition to his duties as a Trustee, Rudy augments his role as a legislative advocate by serving as a Delegate to the California School Boards Association and Vice President of the San Diego County School Boards Association. In these roles he is active in advocating on behalf of public education with legislators at the state and federal level.
Rudy has deep roots in the San Ysidro community, where he lives and works alongside his son Bruno, a current Sweetwater student. Known for a deep commitment to community impact, he has volunteered with a diverse range of community organizations that support initiatives such as education, youth sports and improving quality of life.
